Ministry of Agriculture – One of the Best Examples of Socialist Realism in Warsaw

Ministry of Agriculture is my favorite example of socialist realism architecture in Warsaw – the mandatory architectural style in the Eastern Bloc countries between 1948-1955.

The building was constructed in 1951-1955, according to the design of Jerzy Grabowski, Stanisław Jankowski and Jan Knothe. It was supposed to be a side of a big square – an agriculture field with the best species of Polish tomatoes, potatos, onions etc. Luckily this ridiculous idea was not implemented.

The most impressive part of the building is a double colonnade along the Wspólna Street where the main entrance is located.

Address: Wspólna 30
