It covers multiple spots where you will have a chance to see WWII remains mix with the new Warsaw. Lukasz was happy to answer all questions and shared such a vast knowledge of the people, places and events of this time period. After the tour was over, I was hoping it would go on for longer! Thank you so much Lukasz!

Thank you Łukasz for this great afternoon ! I wish you the best for your carreer and life !

This narrow staircase was dedicated to servants wo This narrow staircase was dedicated to servants working and living in different apartments of that building. The main staircase for the owners is spacious and elegant, this one is simple, claustrophobic and quite steep. When I reached the top floor I was breathless...In the past it was very common to built so-called "servant quarters" in wealthier neighborhoods. This infrastructure contained a servant staircase, entrance and sleeping area. In family houses and bigger residences it could be a separate wing. In apartment houses like this, it was located in the back of a kitchen. It made servants "invisible". It was a common habit from the late 17th century until the early 20th century, and it's an important part of social history.

This amazing green area held two royal "free elect This amazing green area held two royal "free elections" (1573 & 1733), when kings of Poland were elected by nobels. These were elections of individual kings, rather than dynasties. This system was created after the fall of Poland's Jagiellonian dynasty, king Sigismund II Augustus was probably infertile, and died with no a successor. Approximately 50 thousand noblemen from all over the country came here to join the first free election in 1573. Nowadays this area is considered a historical monument.

In the 1970s a complex of housing blocks was built on the edge of this park. Usually communist-era buildings are not really valued, mostly for their poor quality. But here they are well preserved, and located just 15 minutes from the city center. The residents have space, greenery, water canals, benches, playing fields, and no fences. Unlike in most contemporary condos, advertised as "luxurious". And the touch of history: the last image shows Jan Matejko's painting presenting the royal election of 1573.

Morysin is a nature reserve located in Wilanów, t Morysin is a nature reserve located in Wilanów, the city's suburbs. It's the former romantic park created by Potocki family, the owners of Wilanów in the 19th century. The reserve contains ruins of buildings influenced by medieval architecture, designed by prominent Polish architects. The first building is a wooden forester's lodge, and it's over 150 years old. The whole area is protected as a historical monument.

Yesterday I sneaked into the former building of As Yesterday I sneaked into the former building of Assicurazioni Generali Trieste, an Italian insurance company. It's an apartment house with a movie theater built in the 1930s. It's one of the few buildings in the area that wasn't bombed or burnt during WWII. It probably wasn't a coincidence, the Germans wouldn't have destroyed a property of their allies. Inside you can see original elements of the design of Edward Eber, the architect of the building. Eber designed many high-end apartment houses, cinemas and night clubs in Warsaw. Even though he was Jewish, he managed to survive the Second World War, but most of his work was destroyed.

Amphitheater on the Water is located in Łazienki Amphitheater on the Water is located in Łazienki Park, the former summer royal residence. It reflects the popular trend of using motifs of ancient ruins in European architecture. There is no other 18th century theatre of this kind in Europe: the scene is located on an island and it's connected with the auditorium through a water channel. It was designed by royal architect Johann Chrystian Kammsetzer from Dresden. There is no bad time to visit this park, it's stunning even on a cloudy, rainy day😍

Warsaw often surprises visitors with numerous pre- Warsaw often surprises visitors with numerous pre-war buildings, even though the city was heavily destroyed during WWII. The Polish capital is seen as a completely new and uninteresting according to its history, but my guests quickly realize that it's actually a fascinating city full of contrasts. Turning from some wide communist-era artery, suddenly you step back in time to see a place like this.

It's the Frenkental House from Nowogrodzka Street, an example of a very well preserved apartment building from the early 1900s. Between 1942-1945 it was occupied by the Germans as it was conveniently located across the street from the former state telegraph building. Its basements were secretly connected with the city's underground tunnel system, which was used by the Polish Underground during WWII.
