Have a Cup of Coffee in the Legendary Cafe Bristol

The legendary Cafe Bristol was opened in 1901 and quickly became the capital`s most chic destination visited by Warsaw’s Intelligentsia. Here you can enjoy dessert in an atmosphere of an Art Nouveau interior with the Royal Route just outside the windows.

When you walk through the door, on the left, you will see a big black and white picture of Nina Andrycz, a famous Polish actress who was the wife of Józef Cyrankiewicz, Polish Prime Minister in the communist times. During the interwar period she was considered an icon of style. This picture was taken in the Bristol Hotel on the stairs next to the elevators in the lobby. For decades Nina Andrycz played in the Polski Theater. She passed away in 2014 at the age of 101.

Cafe Bristol was visited also by many international stars. In the corner, on the left, after you walk a few steps down, you can see Marlene Dietrich’s autograph on the wall signed while visiting Cafe Bristol in 1964.

The Bristol Cafe is known for great coffee (black or white coffee 15 pln) and teas which are always served with a piece of delicious florentin. Cakes are often based on seasonal ingredients. My favorite are those with cream (kremówka) but if you prefer somthing lighter try a cheesecake (sernik) or applecake (szarlotka). There are two special offers: “Cake of the day” which is a cake with a coffee, tea or hot chocolate for 25 pln. A two course lunch is served from Monday to Friday between 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm for 29 pln.
